Awaiting iPhone 4G rumours are getting hotter by hour. According to rumours so far there’s high probability of unveiling it at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2009, which is going to host June 8th to June 12th at San Fransisco.
Faster Network Performance But Not 4G
As per rumours the new iPhone is going to provide faster network access due to AT&T’s High Speed Packet (HSPA) network. HSPA isn’t really 4G. Instead HSPA is a combination of two mobile telephony protocols designed to improve the performance of existing 3G networks. So, we may not be able to label this next gen device the “iPhone 4G.”
Built-in 3D graphics chip
Apple may include a built-in 3D graphics chip much like it does on the MacBook Pro notebook series. If so, look for faster, more advanced gaming on the next gen iPhone.
Increased battery life
Battery life is rumored to be 1.5 times greater than the current iPhone 3G. Whether this is being done with better power management, a larger battery, or both is uncertain.
Ability to send a picture & video via MMS
Finally, if true, the iPhone will support more than SMS. Welcome to 2009, Apple.
Built-in FM transmitter
This may clarify what FM does in the new iPhone. It’s not an FM radio. it’s an FM transmitter–much as you might find in a high-end GPS. The question is what value this has for iPhone users. Most stereos, car radios and home theaters can take audio directly from the iPhone audio output jack. Perhaps Apple is thinking of those of us with car radios that have no audio input line jacks.
Enhanced Satellite Navigation directions
If rumours true this will provide turn by turn directions same as commercial Satellite navigation systems.
No Verizon deal at this time
BusinessWeek in April reported hearing from two sources “familiar with the matter” that Apple was working with Verizon on two new iPhones, which could be available as soon as this summer. This would be great news for Verizon customers unwilling to switch to AT&T, the exclusive U.S. carrier for the iPhone.
Our thoughts? Not happening — not anytime soon, at least. Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg told the Wall Street Journal he expects Apple to consider sharing the iPhone with Verizon in 2010 — when Verizon begins deploying its fourth-generation network. If Apple is indeed interested in working with Verizon, there is no incentive to make this announcement in mid-2009 — especially when Apple can stretch out the negotiations to shake more money out of its carrier partners. Also, historically Apple does not enjoy making announcements about products until they are finalized.
Also, Apple said in late April it has no plans to change its exclusive relationship with AT&T. Flip-flopping on that statement about six weeks later would make that a blatant lie, wouldn’t it? If any deal happens between Verizon and Apple, we expect it to happen no sooner than 2010.
No it’s Touchscreen Tablet as thought earlier
As much as you might want one now, we don’t see this launching at WWDC. We agree with analyst Gene Munster’s arguments for why an Apple tablet is likely to appear no sooner than 2010. The strongest point raised is that Apple purchased chip company PA Semi in 2008, and Steve Jobs said the purpose of the acquisition was to develop iPhone and iPod chips. Also, Apple has recently been hiring chip designers.
It’s reasonable to infer Apple would wait to introduce its newly developed mobile processor with the release of a highly anticipated touchscreen tablet. There’s no indication this is happening anytime soon.
You never know if it’s going to happened but July 17, 2009 is the rumoured launch date for new iPhone 4G.

Reply to the Paragraph: “Built-in FM transmitter”:
The LTE Standard is using FM Frequencies to communicate. this means: it’s a real 4G Phone, one of the first.

The iPhone 4G is such a misleading name. I wonder what they’ll do when the actual 4G iPhone is ready? Maybe it’ll be called the iPhone 4G 4G?
Just a thought…
